Asster provides mental health care to people in need. They aim to deliver this effectively and accessibly for patients, their families, and referrers. Panton was asked to improve the experience from registration to admission.

Approach
We drew inspiration from the perspective of referrers, staff and patients. For this purpose, two Pantonners, had themselves admitted for 24 hours to a ward of Asster, psychiatric hospital in Sint-Truiden, Belgium.
In co-creation, we developed a service framework. This framework describes the phases of the recording process. For each phase, the desired experience of the key stakeholders was defined.
In co-creation with employees, a new way of working was designed based on the service framework. Therapists, staff, nurses, receptionists and experts by experience were involved in this process. External experts from partner organizations and referrers also contributed ideas.
Co-creation
Using co-creation to tackle an issue creates an understanding of each other's needs. This approach contributes to the quality of the solution and trust in each other. Trust that is needed when implementing the new way of working.
Result
This service design process resulted in a blueprint for the registration and admission process. The process is accessible and gives clarity to patients and referrers. For Asster staff, it provides structure and reduces the workload.
Panton supports Asster in the implementation of the new application and admission process.
